If required, we can grant select individuals the ability to edit and delete survey data.
An ethical pre-requisite:
It goes without saying that data manipulation is a serious issue, and never something to be taken lightly. We advise to not interfere with response data wherever possible, but we appreciate that sometimes erroneous data is recorded and needs to be corrected.
How do I edit/delete response data?
Options for editing responses can be found on the Response List (if you have the correct permissions). Load this page and, when you have found the response you are looking for, click the ‘Actions’ button:
The following options will be displayed:
Editing response answers
Clicking the ‘Edit answers’ option will display each answer in an editable form.
Score questions will be displayed as radio buttons that can be clicked:
and verbatims will display as text boxes that can be edited:
There is also the option to remove an answer to a question entirely, by clicking the corresponding ‘Remove answer’ button.
Once you have made the required changes, click the button. This will reload the page and put the response ‘in progress’ because it needs to be reprocessed. It can be seen on the ‘In progress’ tab:
Once it has processed, it will reappear in the ‘Finished’ tab.
Editing response details
The filters that are currently attributed to a survey response can be edited by using the ‘Edit details’ option. Clicking this option will display each filter as an editable dropdown, allowing you to make any changes to filter attributions. Once complete, clicking ‘Save’ will reprocess the survey response with the changes applied.
Editing custom data
As explained in the article relating to viewing responses, we can also store additional data against responses. This is called ‘custom data’ and can be edited by using the ‘Edit custom data’ option. Selecting this option will display each piece of custom data currently attributed to a survey response in an editable form. Because custom data does not need to adhere to preset options in the way that filters do, the custom data's title or value can be changed to anything you like.
You can remove a piece of ‘custom data’ entirely by clicking the trash icon next to it, or add a new piece by clicking the ‘Add’ button.
Once all changes have been made, click the ‘Save’ button and this will reprocess the survey response with the changes applied.
How do I delete an entire response?
To remove a response entirely, click the ‘Actions’ button next to a response in the Response List and choose ‘Delete response’:
A confirmation box will appear to ask if you are sure you would like to proceed:
Clicking ‘Cancel’ will close the box without action or clicking ‘Delete response’ will confirm the deletion and mark the response for removal. This is indicated in the Response List by showing the response in a ‘greyed out’ state:
Our system will then remove the response.
