The following is a description of the options/settings available when creating launch conditions.
Field | Description |
Launch URL |
The launch URL is the domain name or the address of page/section you wish to launch from. The ServiceTick tag needs to be added to relevant pages on your website. You will be given this once you have completed the survey creation process. If you want to launch from every page on your site simply enter your domain name, ensure “use exact url” is unticked and that the tag is on every page. If you want to launch of a specific page ensure you enter the the specific URL of that page or enter your domain name & only deploy the tag on the specific page. Note that you do not need to specify whether the pages are served under http or https. |
Active |
This allows you to set whether the launch conditions should be enabled or disabled. If ticked surveys will launch based on your configuration, if unticked surveys will not launch. This is useful if you want to not launch for a short period of time (and as such do not want to delete the entire configuration). |
Use exact URL |
Ticking this box allows you to specify whether the exact URL is matched for surveys to launch. For example, if a launch url is set to “www.example.com/section” it will only launch when that specific URL is visited when this is ticked. If unticked it will then also launch for when partial matches are met for example “www.example.com/section/subsection” etc. |
Launch on every visit |
Ticking this box ensures that surveys are launched every time a user visits the launch page(s). Unticking this box allows you to specify how often the survey should launch for your users. |
Launch days |
This allows you to specify how often the survey will launch for your users. For example, if set to 30 days then your survey will only launch once every 30 days. This is achieved by setting a cookie and as such users will see the survey again if they 1) change devices or 2) clear their cookies. |
Launch when user interacts with the page |
If this is unticked your launch settings will automatically load on page load. If ticked you can then specify page elements that users must first interact with before your launch settings load. For example launch the survey when users click a certain form field or button on your web page. |
Element |
You can specify a page element that needs to be interacted with by users for the survey to launch. Page ids and classes are supported. You will need to specify which id or class is required by using the CSS select for id/class. For example, to launch when the user interacts with a button that has the id of “abc” in this box you would need to write “.abc” (without the speech marks). |
Event |
You can specify which event related to the element defined needs to trigger for the survey for launch. For example if you want to to launch when the user clicks the element you simply need to type “click” here. There are several other elements that can be used here. A list of these is available on the Mozilla Developer Network website. |
Launch delay |
This allows you to specify whether the configuration loads when the page loads or whether there is a delay after the page loads. For example you can launch the survey after the user has been on the page for 30 seconds. |
IP Restriction |
This allows you to launch surveys for a list of IP addresses only. This is useful for testing purposes (for example you could launch for your IP, test and then remove the IP restriction to go live to all users). |
Launch type |
This allows you to specify how the survey launches. There are several options available:
|
Window width |
This allows you to specify the width of the survey window when it launches. |
Window height |
This allows you to specify the height of the survey window when it launches. |
Window left align |
The allows you to specify where the survey will load on the user's screen. Eg if you set this to 10px, there will be a 10px gap between the left hand edge of the user's screen and survey window. |
Window top align |
The allows you to specify where the survey will load on the user's screen. Eg if you set this to 10px, there will be a 10px gap between the top edge of the user's screen and survey window. |
Button text |
This allows you to enter the text that is displayed on the button. We recommend that this is limited to one or two words e.g. “Feedback” or “Take survey”. |
Button font style |
This allows you to specify the font style used for the text displayed on the button. The font CSS property is used here. The font CSS property is a shorthand property for setting font-style, font-variant, font-weight, font-size, line-height and font-family. For example if you want to make the text italic, bold, 12px in size and using the Arial font, then you would need to enter in this box the following: More information on the font CSS property can be found on the Mozilla Developer Network website. |
Button text colour |
This allows you to specify the colour of the text on the button i.e. you can set it so it matches your brand guidelines. |
Button background colour |
This allows you to specify the colour of the background of the button i.e. you can set it so it matches your brand guidelines. |
Button alignment |
This allows you to specify the position of where the button will display on your website.
